Transitioning Texture 15+ Months Post Relaxer

Regimen

(as of July 2016)

Relaxers: None. I’m currently transitioning to natural hair.

Wash: Every 7 – 10 days

  1. Pre-poo with oil mix, if needed
  2. Detangle to remove shed hair
  3. Wash twice with sulfate-free shampoo (clarify with a sulfate-based shampoo once a month)
  4. Deep condition hair with heat or steam for 20 -30 minutes. I alternate between a moisture-based conditioner and a protein-based conditioner (If there’s no electricity, I wrap my hair with cling film and a towel.)
  5. Rinse with cool/cold water and dry with t-shirt or towel
  6. Apply leave-ins and detangle
  7. Style

Co-wash: I no longer co-wash during the week.

Protein Treatments: Every other wash day (twice a month). I usually use a medium protein treatment

Moisturize and seal: Every 2 – 3 days, as needed. Apply oil mix (hemp seed, castor, and olive oils + essential oils) to scalp once a week.

Trim/Dust Ends: Once a month to every 6 weeks.

Vitamins & Supplements: Manetabolisim Plus

  1. Pre-poo with oil, and/or conditioner
  2. Detangle to remove shed hair
  3. Wash once with Nizoral shampoo and once with sulfate-free shampoo (clarify with a sulfate-based shampoo once a month)
  4. Deep condition hair with heat or steam for 20 -30 minutes. I alternate between a moisture-based conditioner and a protein-based conditioner (If there’s no electricity, I wrap my hair with cling film and a towel.)
  5. Rinse with cool/cold water and dry with t-shirt or towel
  6. Apply leave-ins and detangle
  7. Style

Wash: Once a week (if hair is not in a long-term protective style)

  1. Pre-poo with oil, and/or conditioner
  2. Detangle to remove shed hair
  3. Wash twice with sulfate-free shampoo (clarify with a sulfate-based shampoo 1 – 2x a month)
  4. Coffee rinse which is kept on hair for 5 minutes
  5. Apply deep conditioner mix over coffee rinsed hair and keep with heat for at least 30 minutes. (If there’s no electricity, I wrap my hair with a towel.)
  6. Rinse with cool water, do final ACV rinse and dry with t-shirt or towel
  7. Apply leave-ins and detangle
  8. Style

Wash: Once a week (if hair is not in a long-term protective style)

  1. Detangle to remove shed hair
  2. Pre-poo with oil, conditioner and/or honey
  3. Wash 2x with shampoo (clarify 1 – 2x a month)
  4. Tea rinse (usually green and black tea) kept on hair for 5 – 10 minutes
  5. Apply deep conditioner mix over tea rinsed hair and keep with heat for about an hour. (If there’s no electricity, I wrap my hair with a towel.)
  6. Rinse with cool water, do final ACV rinse and dry with t-shirt or towel
  7. Apply leave-ins and detangle
  8. Style

Co-wash: Once a week (if hair is not in long-term protective style)

  1. Section hair and finger detangle
  2. Thoroughly wet hair and apply conditioner to each section. Co-wash at least twice.
  3. Rinse and towel dry.
  4. Deep condition with heat for about an hour. Typically this is a moisture-based conditioner
  5. Rinse with cool water and towel dry or t-shirt dry
  6. Apply leave-ins and detangle
  7. Style.

Protein Treatments: Once a month. Alternate between hard and medium protein treatments

Moisturize and seal: Daily. Apply castor oil to scalp and edges at least 3x a week.

Dust ends: Once a month to every 6 weeks.

Vitamins & Supplements: WellWoman Plus and 1000 mcg Biotin daily
