Made In Naija: Ewami Essentials Cleansing Honey – Product Review
I’m very big on supporting Nigerian brands. So, when Ewami Essentials reached out to me to review some of their products, I was pretty excited. Ewami Essentials is a skin and hair care brand based out of Ibadan. They also have a fashion line. The first product up for review is a skin care product, the cleansing honey.

Price: The current price is NGN 1,800.
Size: 4 ounces
Availability: The cleansing honey is available on the Ewami Essentials website. You can also visit their store in Ibadan. The address is 31, Oshuntokun Avenue, Old Bodija.

Key Ingredient Benefits

Fragrance: The scent of this cleanser reminds me of apple pie. The cinnamon and the sweetness of the honey are the major things I can smell. I really like the smell and it isn’t too strong.
Texture and Color: It is dark brown and thick. You can notice some granules like a scrub. The granules are a bit rough and small. It does not lather, as I expected. There is nothing in the ingredient list that is known to lather.

Packaging: The cleanser comes in a small screw-top jar. The jar is made of plastic and it covered with a yellow label. The label states all the key information about the product.
Uses: The product is listed as a daily cleanser. I found it a bit rough for daily use but it works well as a scrub. I use it once or twice a week.

My Take: Proper exfoliation is essential to any skin care regimen. My Clarisonic Mia was my exfoliation method of choice. I had to stop using it because I couldn’t buy replacement brush heads in Nigeria. If you know where I can find some, please let me know. I’ve been without proper exfoliation for a while now. I got a Neutrogena scrub but it wasn’t the same. When I started using this cleanser, it made my skin so smooth. 😀 I was too excited. I started overdoing the scrubbing a bit too much and my skin got irritated. 😥 If you see the directions, it clearly states to ‘apply gently’. It’s another case of me doing too much.

I readjusted my use and scaled back to using it once a week. Since then, my skin has been reacting pretty well. I really like the natural ingredients. I haven’t noticed any changes in the brightness of my skin or oil product. I think I need to try it for longer before I can notice results. This is a pretty good scrub. However, don’t be too rough when you use it.
