Key Ingredient Benefits

  • Honey – Humectant, antioxidative properties, wound healing [1]
  • Baobab Oil – Contains Omega 3, 6, and 9 fatty acids, anti-inflammatory properties, excellent skin moisturizer [2, 3]
  • Desert Date Oil – known to regenerate aging skin and reduce scarring [4, 5]

Fragrance: I purchased the unscented version. It has a mild natural fragrance, like black soap. The scent does not linger at all and I can barely smell it. This is great if you have issues with strong fragrances.

Texture and Color: The soap is medium brown and pretty runny. It foams pretty well too.

Packaging: The black soap comes in a dark amber/brown plastic bottle. The bottle has a press top cap and it is squeezable so the product can easily come out. The label is clear, easy to read, and displays the Aweni logo. It looks well designed. Unfortunately, the back label came off after leaving it in my shower. 🙁

Uses: I used this soap on my face and my body. You can also use it to wash your hair since it has the consistency of shampoo.

My Take: I mentioned in a previous review that I don’t really like body washes because they tend to be too greasy. Thankfully, this one is not greasy at all. Many of the oils used to make the soap absorb in the skin. It foams quite well and my body feels really clean after using it. It’s not overly drying either. Win win. The fragrance is really mild. Since I have some issues with really strong fragrances, this is great for me.

Would I purchase it again? Yes, I would. I enjoyed using this soap. If I were to get it again, I would probably try one with a fragrance.

Is black soap a part of your skin care or hair routine?
