Lightweight and naturally containing trans-retinoic acids, this oil regenerates damaged skin tissue, decreases hyperpigmentation and improves the appearance of wrinkles and scars.
Directions: Gently massage 1-2 pumps of oil into face and neck to nourish before or after serum/moisturiser. Store away from direct sunlight in a cool room and use within 6 months.
Ingredients: Rosa Mosqueta (Rosehip) Oil*, Pure Essential Oil (Natural Fragrance)
For dry, mature, sun-damaged and/or hyper-pigmented skin
Fragrance: This oil has a very strong floral fragrance. I’m not a fan of very strong scents and they can lead to headaches. I use this oil at night and I have to wait a bit for the scent to dissipate before I can sleep. From what I read, rosehip oil may have a nutty or woody fragrance. Others have said it smells like tea and fish oils. (Reddit, Elegance Beauty Reviews, Trilogy Products, Mademoiselle Nature) I didn’t see anything about the strength of the odor.
Texture and Color: It has a light golden color and it is a very light oil. It easily absorbs into my skin.
Packaging: It comes in a small, lightly frosted glass bottle with a pump. The design of the label is clean and minimalistic which I appreciate. The pump brings dispenses a small drop of oil and it is enough for each application.
Uses: Rosehip oil has many uses for the skin, such as reduction of dark spots, reducing the appearance of lines and dark spots, and healing dermatitis. I use this oil on my face at night after I use my night moisturizer.
My Take: I picked up this oil because the description (reducing hyper-pigmentation, wrinkles, etc.) and it lived up to its promise. Rosehip oil is rich in vitamins, antioxidants, and fatty acids. All of which are great for skin care. I got this oil at Ajali showroom opening and I’ve been using it since then.
Within a week, I noticed that my skin felt smoother. Within three weeks, I noticed that some old dark spots were starting to come closer to the surface. I believe this was an indication of cellular regeneration. As the dark spots came the surface, I was able to exfoliate them away. I used the oil with and without moisturizer. This skin renewal was better when I used my night moisturizer (Olay Total Effects).
My skin is pretty oily but I didn’t notice any increase in oil or acne when I used this product. Rosehip seed oil is low on the comedogenic scale so it shouldn’t clog your pores. The oil lasts a while. The only reason why I have less than half of the bottle is that it spilled. 🙁
Would I purchase again? No. I wouldn’t buy it again because of the fragrance. However, the fragrance does not take away from the effectiveness of the oil. If you can handle strong fragrances, you may like this oil. If they had an unscented version, then I would probably repurchase it.
