Product Buys – November 2015

Last week, I posted about the products I finished and I’m glad that I’m getting through some of my stash. This month, I also got replacements and a few products and tools to try.

Batiste Dry Shampoo

I bought this to help freshen my hair and scalp in between shampoos. Sometimes, my hair gets a bit oily and I don’t like the feeling. I used to think dry shampoo was only for are friends with less melanin but it’s pretty good for everyone. I tried it once and it did help with oil. I was just concerned about it leaving a white cast on my hair.  (Park n’ Shop/SPAR)

L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray

I got this to help hold my curly styles based KLP from Saving Our Stands recommendation. I used this hairspray when I did my last perm rod set. I didn’t notice too much of a difference in hold. However, I didn’t use that much hairspray. Next time, I will try a bit more (Supermart NG)

Cantu Creamy Hair Lotion

As I mentioned in my November empties post, my other moisturizers were a bit too heavy for my hair. I’ve used the Cantu before and I really liked it. After a while, my hair wasn’t retaining moisture as well. I came back to it to see if it could help. Cantu has changed the formulation so it could work. I’m not having too many issues with it so far.  (Casabella)

Vitagoods Scalp Massaging Shampoo Brush

If you watch any hair vloggers on YouTube, you may have heard about this product already. I got this because I like scalp massages and I noticed that I wasn’t getting my scalp clean when I was washing in braids. I use this for shampooing and when I apply castor oil to my scalp. I really like how it feels on my scalp. I don’t know if it will stimulate growth but my scalp really feels nice after using it. (Amazon via Mall for Africa)

Misto oil sprayer

Another product that is popular with bloggers and vloggers is the Misto oil Sprayer. This was originally designed for cooking use but many people use it to seal their moisturizers. I tend to be heavy-handed with oils so I like that this gives a light spray. It’s almost like a sheen spray where you control what oils go inside. (Amazon via Mall for Africa)

Braggs Apple cider vinegar

I use apple cider vinegar almost every wash day. I usually use Heinz because of the cost. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to see it in any shops recently. I prefer drinking the Braggs version. Normally, I dilute it and drink it in the morning. It’s supposed to help regulate your digestive pH.  (Natural Nigerian)

Lily of the Desert Aloe vera gel

I got this to add for my shea butter mix but I tried it for a deep conditioner. It seems to work pretty well so far. (Natural Nigerian)

7/16 inch Perm rods

While transitioning, I want to find styles that help blend both textures. I’ve seen so many successful perm rods sets so I had to try it. I had some perm rods but I didn’t have enough. I bought 4 packs of these and they seem to work well. They are shorter that the other ones I have. This works because I can fit more on my head. I prefer how the curls look with the larger perm rods. (Sizzelle)

8 extra curlformers

I have a pack of 40 curlformers but there aren’t enough to cover my head. I got 8 extra so I think this will be enough. I’ll find out soon when I try another curlformer set. (Sizzelle)
