Found In Naija: Parachute Pure Coconut Oil – Product Review
Price: I bought this for 500 Naira.
Size: This bottle is 200 mL but it’s also available in 500 mL and 1 L sizes
Availability: I purchased this from EmJays Supermarket in VI (2/4 Adeola Odeku Street). They have another branch in Anthony Village (11 Adebayo Mokolu Street). It’s also available at Park n’ Shop/SPAR, Savvy and Chic Hair and Beauty Hub, BuyAm, and Sizzelle. I wanted to buy it from Park n’ Shop but I didn’t see it at the one I went to. It’s usually less expensive there.
Product Description
From the bottle

Ingredients: 100% Pure Coconut Oil
From Marico Wholesale
Perfect ancient remedy for hair problems like hair fall, hair loss, split ends, [and] weak hair root. Hair moisturizer & conditioner. Stops hair fall and promote[s] hair growth. One of the oldest ancient ways to keep your hairs healthy. Millions of people have already used Parachute and are still using it. It can also be used for body massage and other uses.
Fragrance: It has the slight scent of coconuts. AB of The Kink and I described it as “coconut candy”.
Texture and Color: When melted, it is a clear oil. If it isn’t fully melted, you may seem some white granules.
Packaging: It comes in a plastic squeeze bottle with a small opening, which could be better. The oil won’t come out if it’s solidified. It doesn’t usually happen in Nigeria. However, if I’m in an air conditioned environment, there will be a problem. You can fix this by warming the oil slightly in a microwave or dipping the bottle it in hot water.
Uses: I use this oil on my skin, in my shea butter mix, in my deep conditioners, as a pre-poo/hot oil treatment, as a sealant, etc. Clearly, I use this oil for just about everything. It can also be used for cooking but I haven’t tried it.
My Take: When I started taking care of my hair, I remember watching Aphro of Phro Group on her YouTube Channel. She mentioned this brand of coconut oil as her sealant. I was able to find it and I’ve used it ever since. This oil is pretty easy to find if you have a SPAR near you and it’s not as expensive as the cold pressed/organic version. This is my favorite type of coconut oil and I like it better than the Vatika oil. This oil is pretty great and you can find it in most Indian shops. If there’s an Indian community near you, they will very likely sell this oil.
Would I purchase again? Yes. I always seem to have a bottle with me. 🙂
