My edges and nape – March update
This is the second month of this challenge. Unfortunately, I have not been doing so well. First, I did not do a monthly check-in last month due to my computer issues. Second, I haven’t followed all the points of my game plan. This is how it’s been going so far.
Moisture: Moisturize and seal at least once per day.
My hair has been in a weave for the past 6 weeks and I haven’t been moisturizing as much as I should. I’m a bit afraid to see what it looks like when I take it out. I have moisturized my leave out and edges 3 – 4 days a week. However, I don’t always seal it with oil. This is adding to my worry about my hair. 🙁
Protein: Layer a protein conditioner on my edges and nape before my moisturizing deep conditioner every other week.
I have washed my hair in the weave 3 times. One of those times, I used a protein conditioner on my leave out. Once I take the extensions out, I will go back to washing weekly so I can be more consistent with this step.
Reduce manipulation and tension
I have my edges left out for this weave but I think trying to blend it with the extensions has increased the amount of manipulation of my hair that is left out. I may not leave any hair out the next install.
Castor oil: Use castor oil on scalp for scalp massages at least 3 times a week, focusing on edges and nape
I have used castor oil especially on the edges at least once a week. I need to increase the frequency to see better results.
Exercise and diet: Take vitamins consistently, continue Couch 2 5K program, improve diet
I take my vitamins most days of the week (~6 days). I’m still doing the couch 2 5K program. I’m now on week 5 of the program. Also, I’ve tried to drink more water (~2 liters/~68 oz a day). My diet is still poor. It tends to decline with increased busyness. Work has been busy and there are other things going on. Hopefully, things will settle down soon.
I couldn’t get the best pictures of my edges and nape since they are covered by the extensions. Here’s a comparison pic from January to March of the section that was left out. Do you notice a difference?
