Hairlista Castor Oil Challenge – Final Results

On December 28, the 8th edition of the Hairlista Castor Oil challenge came to an end. I was glad to have a chance to participate. As I mentioned, I was on the Advance Level.

Advance Level Details: Apply Castor oil to your scalp every other day. Use sparingly. Massage it in. Focus on Damaged areas. Apply 1 tsp of castor oil to your deep conditioner weekly with heat. Rinse thoroughly.

I’ve posted my updates from months one and two. I had issues with consistency of the scalp massages during both months. In December, I fared better and was able to do the scalp massages more times during this month. This was by no means perfect but it was an improvement. My hair feels quite soft and I have a BUNCH of new growth (since I’m about 6 months post). In the last post, I said I was running low on my castor oil. I was able to get some Lavender Jamaican Black Castor Oil (JBCO) from Sizzelle. I like the smell better than the original one. A few weeks later, I won a 4oz bottle of JBCO from the Sizzelle Christmas Giveaway. It seems like the universe wants me to use plenty of castor oil. 🙂

I haven’t done a proper length check since I haven’t relaxed my hair yet. However, I plan to flat iron my hair in preparation of my relaxer. I will show those pics soon. Overall, I enjoyed participating in this challenge. I am a bit disappointed that I had issues keeping up with the scalp massages but any little bit helps. Castor oil is already a component of my hair regimen and it will continue to be. Going forward, I will keep doing scalp massages but I will have for 2 – 3 times a week.
